Assemblage Journal Workshop

Yayra Agbofah’s May 2024 lecture at Media Design Hochschule, curated by Assemblage Journal, advanced the global conversation on sustainable fashion through innovative perspectives and actionable strategies.

In May 2024, Yayra Agbofah delivered a pivotal lecture at Media Design Hochschule, marking a significant moment in the ongoing global dialogue on sustainable fashion. His presentation transcended traditional academic discourse, offering innovative perspectives and actionable strategies that deeply resonated with attendees.

Agbofah structured his lecture into three compelling discussions, exploring the intersection of global fashion consumption and environmental responsibility. He underscored the detrimental impact of fast fashion on Ghana, contrasting it with Germany’s high consumption rates. Emphasizing the urgency of rethinking textile disposal methods, he advocated for upcycling and recycling as effective solutions to minimize waste.

Furthermore, Agbofah emphasized the crucial role of collaboration among stakeholders, encouraging students to explore synergies between Ghana and Germany in advancing sustainable fashion practices.

The workshop was organised and curated by Assemblage Journal as part of its mission to link organisations, companies and institutions from Germany with those in the Global South.

Looking ahead, Assemblage Journal anticipates ongoing collaboration between African and German experts, aiming to promote innovative solutions and mutual understanding in building a sustainable fashion industry.
